MondayFULL SHIFT
- I arrived. Checked that the shop was still there.
- I picked up a little stick.
- I carried the little stick to the other side of the shop.
- I put it down. Checked it had landed.
- I picked up another little bit. Different bit. Separate job.
- I went to the toilet.
- I came back from the toilet.
- I zipped my fly up. Final snagging complete.
- I made tea. Waited for tea to become drinkable.
- I tested the sofa. Long-duration test.
- I woke up. Wrote this timesheet. Full day, mate.
TuesdayFULL SHIFT
- I looked at a shelf.
- I looked at the same shelf from a different angle.
- I fetched a pencil. No lead. Returned pencil.
- I found a screw. Held it up. Said: “Who’s lost this?”
- I moved a box six inches to the left.
- I moved it back. Client change.
- I put my bag by the toilet. Went in. Came out.
- I pulled my trousers up. Checked the zip. Quality control.
- I ate a sandwich. Removed one bit of onion.
- I sat down to plan standing up.
- I approved my own progress. Be alright, la.
WednesdayFULL SHIFT
- I opened the toolbox.
- I remembered what I wanted. Forgot it again.
- I closed the toolbox. Tools secured.
- I carried a short bit of timber past a longer bit.
- I swapped them over. Better workflow.
- I measured the tape measure. Looks about right.
- I went to the toilet. Returned via the kettle.
- I adjusted my vest. Both sides now yellow.
- I counted three screws. Counted again. Still three.
- I lay on the sofa to check the ceiling.
- I completed the ceiling inspection with my eyes closed.
ThursdayFULL SHIFT
- I took one glove off.
- I put the glove back on. Wrong hand.
- I corrected the glove installation.
- I picked up a small offcut. Put it on a bigger offcut.
- I separated the offcuts. Health and safety.
- I carried an empty bucket. Checked it was empty.
- I went to the toilet. Washed hands. Came back.
- I zipped up. Checked I had not zipped my vest instead.
- I stirred tea clockwise. Reversed direction to balance it.
- I supervised the lads from the sofa.
- I finished supervising. Nobody complained while I was asleep.
FridayFULL SHIFT
- I found a spirit level.
- I watched the bubble. Bubble moved. Productive morning.
- I put the level on a shelf. Shelf looked worried.
- I moved a little piece from here to there.
- I moved another little piece from there to here.
- I asked where the first little piece had gone.
- I went to the toilet. Returned. All accounted for.
- I fastened my trousers. Ready for handover.
- I swept one bit of dust into another bit of dust.
- I tested Friday afternoon on the sofa.
- I submitted 40 hours. Sofa time included.
SaturdayOVERTIME
- I arrived for overtime. Nobody asked, but here I am.
- I moved my bag from the floor to the sofa.
- I moved the bag off the sofa. Needed the sofa.
- I carried a tiny bracket to the counter.
- I realised it belonged to the other counter.
- I went to the toilet. Took the scenic route back.
- I checked my zip. Still operational.
- I checked the sofa had not moved since Friday.
- I finished the stability test. Overtime, please.
SundayOVERTIME
- I thought about going to work.
- I thought about the little stick from Monday.
- I mentally moved it to another location.
- I considered picking up another little bit.
- I went to my own toilet. Remote site visit.
- I came back. Zipped up. Working from home.
- I practised sitting with one leg over the other.
- I closed my eyes to visualise the shop refit.
- I remained available in spirit. Double time, mate.
7 days. 73 entries. One very tired Dennis.Manager’s comment: “What did you actually fit?”
